Ballet West Season 20/21:

Art Direction

For Ballet West’s Season 20/21, I wanted to present bright, colorful materials that inspire people. As the organization expands its reach, youthful and contemporary design is essential to attract new audiences. The style also offers sizing and formatting flexibility for all digital and printed needs.

New Ways to
See Ballet

Ballet as an art form struggles with people’s idea that it’s old and stuffy. This season materials challenge those perceptions by presenting contemporary esthetics and a playful color scheme.

Season Booklet

Each show includes two spreads, one to capture people’s fascination and imagination, and the second includes more details, or historical context that the company’s director considers important for audiences.

Photo Styling

After researching each piece, we had photoshoots, and in collaboration with the artistic director and dancers, we came up with different poses. The photographer, Beau Pearson, then cleaned up the photos, and I made the composites and changed the backgrounds.
