Filméxico:
Name & Visuals to Connect
Salt Lake Film Society and the Mexican Consulate needed a name and visually stunning imagery that worked across Spanish and English speaking audiences to brand their annual contemporary film screenings. The designed materials communicate the diversity within the Mexican culture and the broad range of films without falling into stereotypes. I took inspiration from the embroidery patterns of the Otomí indigenous people in México for this project.

Naming
An Accesible
Name
The name works across English and Spanish speaking audiences. Without the dot on the second “i,” the accent mark on the “e” emphasizes the screening’s bilingual and multicultural experience.
Illustrations
Natural and urban illustrations keep the artisanal, hand-made spirit of the traditional patterns to express the intersection of cultural traditions and a modern world.
